Scindapsus pictus

Scindapsus pictus, more commonly known as satin pothos, is a vining evergreen perennial native to southeastern Asia.  Glossy, dark green, heart-shaped leaves speckled with splotches of silvery-white, often bordered with an outline of the same silvery color, grow along the thin, creeping stems of the satin pothos.  Excellent climbers, satin pothos can attach themselves to most surfaces with their aerial roots, allowing for dazzling displays along walls, over trellises, and across tree trunks.  Alternatively, the creeping vines make exquisite hanging plants, as their dazzling tendrils flow out from their baskets in a river of silver and emerald.  Depending on the individual preference for variegation intensity, there are many cultivars available that offer different ratios of green and white.  Satin pothos are toxic to pets and should be placed or planted out of their reach accordingly.

Provide satin pothos with a location that receives bright, indirect sunlight, as direct exposure can cause a loss of variegation as well as scorching.  Indoor plant potting mixes or soils that contain a mixture of bark, peat moss, and perlite are ideal for growing satin pothos as they thrive in rich, well-draining media.  Allow the top two inches of soil to completely dry out between waterings, though watering should be delayed if the foliage begins to yellow or the vine starts wilting.  Satin pothos grow best in warm, humid environments and should be kept away from cold drafts when kept indoors and never be exposed to frost.
