Shrub or small tree 0.8–4 m.; bark black; branchlets and leaves shortly hairy.

Flowers numerous in hairy terminal corymbs, 5-merous; petals greenish white outside, white inside, 5–7 mm. long.

Berries globose, 8–10 mm. in diameter, black.
