Annual; culms solitary, or caespitose. Culms erect, or geniculately ascending; 5-60 cm long; 2-5 -noded. Leaf-sheaths hispid. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2-5 mm long; lacerate. Leaf-blades 2-16 cm long; 1.5-4 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface pubescent.

Flower

Lodicules 2; membranous. Anthers 3; 0.5-1 mm long. Ovary with a fleshy appendage above style insertion; pubescent on apex.

Fruit

Caryopsis with adherent pericarp; linear; hairy at apex; apex fleshy. Hilum linear; 1 length of caryopsis.
