Asparagus setaceus

Asparagus Setaceus, also known as ‘Common asparagus fern’, is a small plant of high ornamental value. People admire its feather-like leaves and the natural, unrestrained shape. It is widely displayed in bedroom, living room as an elegant pot plant.
Setaceus is evergreen all the year round. When blooming, its flowers are small and white with a full aroma.
The plant is suitable for warm and humid environment, while it is not resistant to cold and drought. Besides, too much water can also cause the decay of root. 
In summer, direct sunlight may be harmful for this plant. And water should be sprayed frequently around the branches and leaves to increase air humidity. 
Temperature between 15-25℃ will be good for growth, and plant will stop growing in summer when the temperature is above 32℃. In winter, you’d better keep the plant above 10℃. 
You can propagate setaceus by sowing. During March to April in spring, move off the peel of ripe seeds, wash and dry them, and then they are ready for sow. After 30-40 days, the seeds will gradually germinate 
The plant will sprout some new seedlings after planted for 3 years. Spring is the best season for propagation. The stem and root of the plant can be divided into 2-3 plexus contained 3-5 buds. Then you can grow them respectively to get some new plants.
Setaceus grows well in loose and fertile soil, and you may choose soil which is rich in humus and peat. Some organic fertilizer can be added to the soil, which will be conducive for the growth. But remember not to add a high concentration of fertilization, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow soon.
When the new bud grows to 2-3cm, it is recommended to remove the growing point of bud. This method can promote the regeneration of branches and leaves on the below stem. Thus, the branches and leaves will spread naturally, forming an elegant shape like a pine tree.
 

Water moderately, allowing the top 3cm to dry out between watering.
